Don't get me wrong, I love being home and I wouldn't change it for the world, but I really am going to pull my hair out and scream. It seems for the last few days my children...aka Stevie...have gone deaf. I ask him to pick up his toys and he chucks them across the room. I ask him to leave Abbie alone and he pushes her down so he can play with her while she lays down.
In last fews days we have had multiple talks (and timeouts) about cords and electrical outlets. We do have all of our outlet child proof, but 2 days ago he managed to break one of the covers off. Yesterday, all he did during nap time was cry because he didn't want to take a nap. I went in around 3:30 because the crying turned into owie and I think he may have gotten a jolt because once again he was playing with the outlet. He had his light bulb out of his night light while it was still plugged in and told me he hurt his finger.
I am not sure how many more timeouts are not going to work. I know he is two and that is just the age, but it is still beyond frustration. A friend once called it opposite day and boy that is what he was doing this whole week. I think I need a time out!

I said what?
Now that I am finally caught up from blogging about the trip, I can focus on our daily activities. So every now and then I say something to my kids I never thought I would say. The first time was about a year ago when I scolded Stevie and told him to "stop chewing on the fridge." The little stink was teething on the fridge handle.
Today was "don't put chicken in your sock." He was shoving his chicken nuggets into his socks while we were finishing lunch before going into the store. The things this kid comes up with.
We just got the new swingset finished last night. We will have to wait and see what this little daredevil does next.
On a side note, Abbie is still shoveling food as fast as she can get it. Tonight was spaghetti and boy did she love it. She is enjoying the swingset as well. She is growing to dang fast. She can sit up by herself and things Stevie is the funniest thing around. I am wondering it her first world will be Stevie now.

ER Trips
So our vacation started with an ER trip and ended with one. The week before we left, Stevie got pink eye. Quick call to the doctor, a trip to the pharmacy and 3 days of isolation. I thought we were in the clear.
The day before we left, we were all ready to go to the gym. It was one last trip before our flight. A half hour before we were going to walk out the door, Stevie was playing and running like a mad man around the house. He tripped and fell into the cupboard again. Well this time he caught the edge and got a gash in his forehead. So instead of pilates, we were off to the ER for two stitches. He now has a nice little scar.
We were suppose to track down an urgent care while in New York to get those stitches removed, but they don't have any near Gram's house. The closest one was 80 miles away. Thanks to my Aunt Connie, Stevie got his stitches removed on Gram's kitchen table on grazing night.
When we got home, we had to make another trip. My parents were getting ready to leave that Saturday and were pacing up. Stevie broke into Grandma's back pack and started chewing on one of her heart pills. Off to the ER and the boys had a nice little sleepover in the ICU. He didn't ingest too much, but better safe than sorry. Grandma sure felt guilty, I was a nervous wreck and well other people need to learn life is not all about them. I doubt it will ever happen, but some things are more important than being on time.

Vacation Ends
I have to get all these blogs caught up because we didn't have internet for most of the trip. We have been home for almost two weeks now, and boy it was good to get home. As much fun as we had and all the new adventures, it was a long two weeks.
We finished up in Pennsylvania by going through old pictures. I did get the old family bible that I have wanted for years and a ton of the old pictures. Stevie got to go to Gardner's candy and get all his penny candy. We ended up at a park down in Tyrone were Stevie finally got to play on a real slide. There was a nice creak that we got to splash in. Stevie and I even tried catching the little minnows. Abbie even took a little dip in the creek but relaxed with Grams while Stevie and I played.
Heading back to New York was a good thing. We spent the night at Connie's and got to eat something else besides steak! We had chinese. It was heaven to take a real shower and sleep in a comfortable futon, all to myself. Stevie is a kicker! So while I was in the shower, Mom and Connie took Stevie for a walk down to the park. They came back completely soaked. We finished up by going down to the creek behind Connie's house. Stevie jumped in that creek, tennis shoes on and everything. This whole trip, my mother was determined to keep his tennies soaked, even though I brought water shoes and sandals. His shoes spent a lot of time in the dryer.
Our last day at Grams was an easy day. We just hung out and packed up. Stevie got to play in the "swimming pool." We got out a big bowl and just let him splash. The night ended with a rain storm that Stevie wanted to play in. Grandma took him into the rain to play. It was a great way for him to get his nightly shower.

Lightening Bugs
So all three nights we had to try to get the lightening bugs. This is the only place I know that he will be able to catch them. The first night was more me running around the yard chasing and soving them in the jar while he kept pointing "there, there, there." The second night he wanted to put them in the jar after I had caught them. We only squished a couple of them. He had no fear just grabbing them and shoving them in that jar.
Tonight, he was all about it. We went across the street because they had better bug access. He was running around, grabbing them, taking them from me and grandmanand getting them in that jar. I can't believe he is touching those bugs. I heard from grandma that he tried getting an ant earlier...silly boy.
Abbie had to get in on the action to. She was trying so hard to get that jar after we came back. She was really into watching those bugs.

Great Grandma McFarlands
So our travels continue in PA. We have been at Great Grandma's for two and a half days and I am so sticky and hot. So not use to this weather. We have been going out doing all the old things dad use to do when he was little. Stevie has been having a blast because of all the animals. It seems we are out five times a day throwing rocks into to crick trying to hit the frog. He keeps scaring me because the kid has no fear and is leaning just a little to far.
Dusty's wedding was yesterday. We survived both weddings. It was fun. We had to skip the reception because of the kids but it was good to see my Uncle Den. He looked hot and tired. I am glad he made it and that we were able to see him. Hopefully the doctor will give him some good news.
Today was just an easy day. Went to church and saw all the relatives that I have no idea who they are. I know some by name, but it is what it is. I haven't been back here in ten years so I didn't expect to know anyone. After me and the babies got naps, and dad took his drive (again) with mom, we went to Blands park or whatever it is called now. Both kids got to ride some rides. Abbie had a fun time on the carousal with her grandpa. Stevie got to ride the carosual, boats, the firetruck, flying elepahnts and the train. The boats were my favortie as a kid and he really liked when I showed him how to use the bell.
I just can't beleive how much my babies have grown in the last 10 days. Stevie is such a grandmas boy right now. He started calling her ma or mama (I told mom i wasn't offended because I am mommy now). SHe has gotten him to eat just about averything, noodles, mac and cheese, and pretty much everything hse asks him to try. Hopefully that will continue once we get home.
Abbie is pretty much sitting by herself with help from behind. She is so over babyfood and is trying really hard to get table food. Right now I do give her both, but I have to keep yelling at grams since she is trying to sneak in chicken fingers and french fries. I have relaxed since Stevie was born, but I am not ready for her to eat meats. She has been trying all sorts of fruits. Abbie had a strawberry when we went strawberry picking last week. I gave her kiwi tonight that she loved. She really likes mashed potatoes. I have to say I am glad one of my kids will eat mashed potatoes. It would be nice though, if she had just a few more teeth. She only had the 2 front bottom ones right now, but the way she is eating, you would think she has a mouthful.
